Editorial Policy
Purpose and Standards
Time to Digital exists to help small teams and home offices choose scanners and workflows that measurably reduce time and errors. Our content is practical, privacy-aware, and longevity-focused. We publish only what we can verify and replicate.
Independence and Integrity
- No pay-to-play: We do not sell rankings, placements, or editorial coverage.
- Vendor influence: Manufacturers cannot approve, edit, or veto our reviews.
- Conflicts: Staff must disclose potential conflicts; assignments are reallocated when necessary.
Product Selection
We prioritize devices based on audience fit: SMB and home-office scanners with meaningful differences in throughput, reliability, OCR, and integrations. We also test popular MFPs and portable units when they affect time-to-digital.
Review Process
- Standardized Protocols: All devices run our mixed-stack tests and scoring rubric.
- Real-World Environments: We test on current Windows/macOS, typical networks, and major clouds.
- Repeatability: Each benchmark includes steps and settings to reproduce results.
Evidence and Sources
We cite driver versions, firmware, test dates, and configuration details. When referencing external claims (standards, vendor specs), we link to primary sources. Screenshots and logs are included where helpful and privacy-safe.
Updates and Corrections
We update articles when firmware, drivers, or integrations materially change outcomes. Errors are corrected promptly with a visible changelog noting what changed and why.
Gifts, Loans, and Purchases
- Loaned Units: Accepted for testing with no editorial promises; units may be returned.
- Purchases: When possible, we buy retail units to validate claims.
- Gifts: We do not accept gifts that could influence coverage.
Affiliate Disclosure
Some articles include affiliate links. If you click a link and buy, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our test protocols, scores, or recommendations. We add links only after conclusions are written and clearly label them as “Affiliate.”
Privacy and Security
We minimize collection of personal data and use privacy-friendly analytics where feasible. Test data avoids sensitive content; any logs or screenshots are scrubbed of personal information.
